The stones we offer you were there before us and they will still be there after. At Lithologie, if we have chosen to use this type of material, it is because we wanted to do our part for the planet. First, here are some concepts that we believe are important to share with you.

Switching from a linear model to a circular model

The production model of the objects we consume is "linear". Currently, companies only care about the raw materials they need to produce until the consumer becomes the owner (at the time of purchase). In contrast, the product that the company sells for a lifetime beyond the buying stage. The product or for example, part of its packaging, will go to the trash or at best, will be recycled. In the linear model, companies don't care. When we look at the product as a whole, we are talking about the "life cycle" of a product.

When a company decides to produce with a "circular model", it makes the conscious choice to look at the entire life cycle of what it produces. Beyond the stage of purchase by the consumer.

Towards new business models 

A circular production model involves rethinking its business model: the way it makes money.

With the linear mode, we aim to make the most money while spending the least possible. This mindset means that we are optimizing resources by making choices that have a (bad) direct impact on our environment.

Rethinking your business model means that from day 1, you think about how to produce without creating externalities (or as little as possible).

Concretely:

• that means producing knowing that we won't have to recycle;
• is choosing sustainable raw materials;
• it is ensuring that each stage of production, including transport, has the least possible environmental impact;
• is to think about our actions today while thinking about those of tomorrow;
• it's about building healthy and sustainable business growth.

In short, it means changing the current paradigms.

At Lithologie, our environmental responsibility policy is based on:

• A short circuit of stones: without intermediaries and minimizing the distances between production, transport and the customer
• Local manufacturing: choose local suppliers as soon as the option is possible
• A choice of sustainable materials: rock and wood Minimal means of extraction: extraction by hand, without heavy machinery or blasting
• Choices of local partners: stimulate the economy and local initiatives, sustainable and with reduced impact while developing communities of entrepreneurs focusing on support and mutual aid
• The promotion of companies with a reduced impact and working locally
• The choice of wood from the circular economy
• End of life: a return to the earth with disintegrating products.

We are not perfect. We know we have to manage our bigger outputs better.
